(Beauty Diary) My Week with Estee Lauder - Fall 2012

Whenitcomes to make-up, my family has been loyal to Estee Lauder since it debuted. I grew up with the gold packaging. But when I started my brief career in the cosmetic industry, the idea of buying Estee Lauder products simply didn't occur to me. I was young, and the way I saw it, the Estee Lauder woman was much older than me.

Nothing is permanent, especially in make-up. When Tom Pecheux came on board as creative make-up director in 2009, the Estee Lauder got a makeover. I had a chance to peruse their Fall 2012 collection a few weeks ago. The vibrance, the creativity and the colours (!) made a big impression. The line of Pure Colour Vivid Shine eyeshadow brings together a group of bold and totally original shades; the Vivid Shine lipstick is bright and moisturising. But it was the eye-catching nailpolish collection that I really fell for. Tom Pecheux and I have a favourite city in common; this fall, his nailpolish collection is inspired by Paris at night. The shades are unique Parisien - the delicate beige of Chaos is inspired by the stones used to build the Pont Neuf, while the gold-flecked green of Viper pays hommage to the fountain at Place de la Concorde. The shimmery gold of Explosif is, according to Tom Pecheux, the shade that the Eiffel Tower takes on at night.

I loved the video... I think you will, too!

  22. I do believe my grandmother used to adore this label too. I love the packaging, and I swear that I can still smell the lipstick my grandmother used. I probably stole a little of it at the time, too :-)

  25. I'm looking forward to your Estee Lauder week! I have always associated this line with the more mature woman, however, it is apparent that the company is attempting to expand their target market. I don't have any of their frangrances, but they do hold a special place in my heart. The slightest smell of Beautiful, Knowing or Pleasures brings me back to when I was a kid snooping through my mom's make-up and perfumes.

  29. How exciting is this! Go you doll! I love Estee Lauder! I had some eyeshadow and lipstick "Rose Tea" (which is still my favorite shade ever...it is so creme and perfect!) years ago that my eldest sister gave me and I loved how well it lasted through a whole day at school and my after school activities. It was heavenly! I may need to pick some up this fall!
