CHANEL is a brand that fashion dreams are made of, and the wildest fashion dreams always involve haute couture. There are no occasions in everyday life in North America that call for a couture gown, but that really isn’t the point – haute couture is an art form, and if there was ever any doubt about that, the proof can be found in the CHANEL fall/winter 2016-17 haute couture collection. From soft tweeds to hand sewn sequins and beading; delicate feathers and glittering rhinestones, this collection is a celebration of the craftsmanship that maison CHANEL has long been known for – the few photos of garments that I shared on Monday were just the smallest taste of what we saw at the New York Fashion Week presentation. Although there are a lot more photos in this post, these shots still don’t begin to do justice to the collection. It’s a rare treat to experience CHANEL up close, and I could easily have spent all day wandering among the gowns, peeking into all the pockets – almost all of which contain beautiful hidden details – and admiring the tiny pearl pins that the seamstresses use to assemble the garments. I wish I could have taken you all along with me, but until we can all go on a CHANEL field trip – I know, I know, it sounds farfetched, but anything is possible – I hope these behind the scenes shots make you feel like you’ve been able to experience the CHANEL haute couture collection in a way, too.

Oh it looks like a dream come true Cee. The closest I have been to Chanel is make up, perfumes, earrings… one step at the time 🙂

  2. Wow, wow, wow. That detail work and embellishments – I’m just dying. What an insanely wonderful opportunity!!!!

  3. Yay, so glad you posted photos from the presentation!! I’m absolutely in love with every piece, but must admit, my heart is particularly attached to the dress in the fifth photo. Oh my word! So much stunningness and totally appropriate for our autumnal gathering, no?! But then again, if I could afford couture, I’d look for any excuse to wear it! 😉

Cee, those are definitely works of art. The details are absolutely amazing. My jaw is on the floor just from your pictures, so I can imagine seeing them in person. Glorious!
