A Vancouver Stay-Cation

February 8, 2017

I have been a broken record lately, saying, “Since we’re leaving so soon…” before almost every sentence. The truth is, we’ll be back – after close to a decade, we have so many connections here that it’s impossible to consider not visiting. And when we do, I know exactly where we’re stay: the OPUS Hotel. We’ve done a number of stay-cations at the OPUS over the years, because it’s one of our favourite hotels in the city and has the added bonus of a convenient Yaletown location, near our favourite seawall run route and a lot of our favourite restaurants (including Tacofino, Small Victory, The Greek by Anatoli and La Pentola, which is right in the hotel.) Our last visit was in late August, just before we departed for NYFW – we wanted to take a bit of time to relax before what we knew would be a frantic trip, and two days at the OPUS was just the ticket. We did a couple of seawall runs (because we really are those people) and time spent in the super soft bed, eating gummibears from the minibar and drinking wine; it’s called balance. We had cocktails at OPUS Bar and, on the second night of our stay, were treated to the most delectable tomato-themed family-style meal at La Pentola – the fact that tomatoes might just be my favourite fruit may have biased me slightly towards loving everything we ate, but I can honestly say I’m still dreaming about the burrata with fresh tomatoes we tried that evening. If you’re planning a trip to Vancouver – or if you live in the city and just want to escape a weekend of the usual laundry and grocery shopping routine – you can’t go wrong with a stay at the OPUS Hotel!

  1. Excited to know you guys are planning on visiting Vancouver. Yay, yay! You haven’t even left yet and I’m already counting down to when you’ll be back. Haha! 😉 As for the Opus? Sounds divine… we’ve never stayed there, but have dined there and it’s always been a fantastic experience, and love the sound of a staycation. Just might be thing to do for this spring! xo

I’ve never done a staycaation, but yours sounds just as delightful as any vacation could be. Nothing like taking the time to just let yourself relax, without all the stresses of airport security and connecting flights.
