I have owned this sweater before. Until now, I have been largely immune to the appeal of the so-called 90s trend, because most of the trends coming back remind me a lot more of the early 2000s, when I was a young teenager; I have all kinds of embarrassing photographic evidence of how I dressed in that era, which serves as a constant reminder of why I never want to repeat any of those trends. But this sweater… this sweater is different. The thing is, when I picked it out, I didn’t recognise it for what it was; in fact, I had entirely forgotten the ribbed sweater I found on the sale rack at Dynamite in West Edmonton Mall, where we went on a family vacation just before I started tenth grade. It was $10 and pink, which were virtually my only two criteria for determining if something was worth buying when I was not-quite-fifteen. I loved it so much that I incorporated it into my fifteenth birthday party outfit. Like most of my clothes from the early 2000s, I fell out of love with it by the end of the school year and it found its way into the donation bin at church. I haven’t given it a single thought since – at least, not until I unpacked this Majorelle sweater and slipped it on. My reflection in the mirror looked like it had taken a trip back in time. I immediately remembered how comfortable my old sweater was, and how well it paired with jeans. Before this sweater made its way into my wardrobe, I had my old standby cream sweater packed in my suitcase for Europe, but it was swiftly replaced this one which is, at once, a new and old favourite. I have to admit, I’ve now taken a look back through my old photos from high school to see if there are any other 90s trends I might want to try – the answer, however, was a resounding no!

  2. I always find it alarming when I go back through photos from high school and junior high – I just sort of sit there, shaking my head, and mumbling “what were you thinking?!” This 90s trend is totally working for you though…god, I can already feel myself reaching for those old photos to see if maybe, just maybe, I should reconsider a trend or two.

  3. I’ve found myself in the same place with velvet chokers… I love that sweater on you. And look, you’re wearing flats!

  4. Yay, so happy we had one more date prior to your send off!! I had such a lovely time, flying utensils and all. Whoops! Haha! 😉 And loved shopping with the ultimate flat lay expert too… can’t wait to incorporate my two new beauties! <3 As for 90's trends? With you, so hard to go back and retry things when you've already experienced them. Although, I'll admit I've fallen in love with the off shoulder trend and chockers. Finally! Only took a year! 😉 Love everything about your sweater, those jeans and the flats are perfection too! Wishing you a lovely Tuesday, friend!! xo

I can think of very few things I’d want to wear now that I wore when I was 15. Though the bell sleeves I loved then and might just have to wear again. My most favorite top was navy blue velvet with bell sleeves!
I like the idea of an off the shoulder sweater with out being fussy about a strapless bra. It might even be fun to have a deliberate lacy one to show off.

I have not looked through old photo albums in years.. and don’t intend to.
This sweater looks marvellous Cee and the idea of adding the scarf is genius.
