Fate, accidents, coincidence – the law of large numbers explains them all away. But it doesn’t change how the unexpected can impact our lives. Years ago now, when I was a baby blogger, I often felt plagued by the idea that I wasn’t doing enough; I should leave more comments on other blogs, I should connect with more bloggers on Twitter, I should read more online publications to learn what others were writing about… the list went on and on. When I was possessed by the idea that I needed to read even more than I already did, and add more variety to my reading list, I decided to spend some time exploring Glitter Guide. I will be honest and say that while I think Glitter Guide is exceptionally good at what they do, I am not the target audience for their work. It wasn’t long before I found myself doing the kind of bored browsing I sometimes do on Buzzfeed in moments of pure procrastination – clicking for the sake of clicking, without caring where I will end up. And then, on the side bar, I saw it: a perfectly minimal and absolutely Parisian advertisement featuring a brunette in blue jeans, carrying a gorgeous leather tote bag. The words Les Composantes were written at the top of the ad. I went from intrigued to smitten in a matter of seconds, before even clicking over to the website. Within days, I had placed my first order, for a brown leather tote bag I still have five years later. A love story started that day as I was browsing Glitter Guide – Les Composantes became Sezane a few years later and the independent Parisian brand remains among my favourites. Sezane has expanded considerably, and now has a row of beautiful properties in Paris; while one is under construction, their cafe bookstore is open and was one of the first places I visited when we arrived in Paris. Naturally, a fabulous shop requires a fabulous outfit and on the day of our visit, I decided to go with something completely unexpected – yes, this is me, wearing pink. There may be a mathematical explanation for them, but life still really is full of surprises!

  1. The touch of lighter shade looks perfect when offset against the black – this is how I wear lighter colours (well, when I do).

  3. I absolutely love that story and the details of your memory of it! I also ADORE that blush jacket paired with the black. So classic yet “right now.” A+ lady.

  4. Seriously, your writing is always such a treat, love this post and (I’m with Melissa) love your memory of it! As for Sezane? Thanks to your adoration of the brand… I’ve honestly fallen in love with not only their bags, but ALL of their clothes too. It’s such a feminine & modern aesthetic which I love! And of course, love what you wore. The all black, the pop of blush and your Chanel!! xo

You look astonishingly, without a doubt! To be precise, every detail of your outfit fits you, since it was clearly thought out. This is my opinion! Keep it up!
