Confession time: like most people, I’ve had the same make-up brush set for way too long. Worse still, my attitude towards washing my brushes is, at best, cavalier. Needless to say, until recently, I could not photograph my make-up brushes. They weren’t nearly pretty enough. In fact, they were so not pretty that I couldn’t leave them out when friends came over. All this to say, when I discovered the Nars x Charlotte Gainsbourg brush set, with its mixture of marble and wooden brushes, I knew it was time to replace my old ones.

To be fair, I’m not an expert when it comes to make-up brushes. The Nars x Charlotte Gainsbourg brush set is effectively the second I’ve ever owned. This means I don’t really know if the brushes in this set work better than others on the market at a similar price point. But I do know they’re beautiful. The best part of having a new home the prospect of decorating it. And no detail is too small, in my mind. I want everything to fit my aesthetic perfectly, right down to my cosmetic collection. These brushes, with their marble and wood handles, fit right into the mid-century modern vibe I’ve envisioned.

I love all things Parisian and Paris-inspired, so any Charlotte Gainsbourg collection had an obvious appeal for me. And I’ve been a fan of Nars since my early twenties. A lot of my everyday make-up products – Laguna bronzer, Orgasm blush and Monoi Body Glow II – still come from their permanent collection. I can’t live without their Audacious mascara. So I never doubted that I would love the Nars x Charlotte Gainsbourg brush set. But if I’m honest, even if you’re not as Nars- and Paris-obsessed as I am, I think you will, too.

  2. That is a really gorgeous set (I also have owned the same set for WAY too long and am less than dedicated to regularly cleaning them…yeah, I really need to work on that).

I pretty much own one brush, honestly I don’t even know what to do with all the sizes! But I too would find myself marching off and buying these on the basis of looks alone, because every part of our lives should be worthy of photographing, right?

  5. That is one gorgeous brush set. Even the packaging is pretty! I use the same two (old) brushes myself… Might be time to upgrade!

  6. Wow! Each handle is different! I heard about this collaboration but didn’t know the details. I don’t have any NARS makeup brushes. Glad to hear they are good Cee.
