Sometimes, short weeks are the longest. After three blissful days away from work last weekend, I should have been refreshed and ready to take on the world on Tuesday morning. But instead, I was exhausted. The situation did not improve as the work week began. By Wednesday, technically only the second day of this work week, I felt like I had been on the job for eons. The chocolate bar I normally reserve as a treat to myself on Thursday afternoon for surviving four work days in a row? I inhaled it on Wednesday morning.

We all have bad weeks. It’s normal. And we all have weeks that don’t go the way we want, even if we acknowledge that nothing has technically gone wrong, either. I can admit that, about this week. There were no disasters and no major meltdowns, no more failures of communication or conflicts than usual. But despite that, it’s been a long slog. Most evenings, I haven’t had the energy to do much more than sit in front of Netflix and wait until it seems like a reasonable time for an adult to go to sleep. Sometimes, life really isn’t glamorous, and I get that.

When weeks like this happen, because they do happen now and then, I want everything in my life that isn’t work to feel effortless. And that starts with my clothes. I admit that a jumpsuit has certain drawbacks, particularly when it comes to using the bathroom, but you can’t beat them for comfort and ease. I have a few in my wardrobe, but the Missy Empire Kimana jumpsuit became a fast favourite when it arrived. The culotte cut makes it perfect for end of summer days when it’s still warm enough for bare legs. But it’s also easy to throw a jacket or sweater over in the evening.

Personally, I am counting the seconds to the end of the day today. And I’ll probably be wearing this jumpsuit while I do it. Happy Friday!

  1. This jumpsuit is seriously so cute!! I love how you paired it with sneakers too! Adorable.

  2. When I have a Monday off, I’m completely lost for the rest of the week. It also feels like a longer week because you expect it to feel shorter. I much prefer a Friday off. I really love this outfit paired with the sneakers. Happy Friday! http://www.mrsqbeauty.com

  3. I hope the upcoming weeks flow a little more smoothly – I’ve had a pretty challenging week at home with Eleanor (I seriously miss being at the office) so I can relate. And, as someone who cannot pull off a jumpsuit to save their life, I am so impressed with how good you make this look.

I’m with you. I feel like I’ve had a tiredness no amount of sleep or caffeine will shake, and my diligence with my chocolate intake disappeared more months ago than I can count. There are times when the daily grind feels really just like that, and I imagine it’s been hard for you to post your outfits from Europe without feeling the impact of your day job even more so. I hope your weekend does have some moments of effortless life, and you start next week off on a better foot.

  5. Gurrrl, SAME. This week, man. It’s been a 4 day week here as well, but I’ve just dragged. I’m sipping a strong latte at 5 PM right now to just try to make it through this last day. Here’s to the weekend and a (hopefully) renewed sense of energy on Monday! And I LOVE that jumpsuit. Especially paired with the leather jacket. So chic.

  6. I can not wait to wear my motto, jumpsuit and sneakers!! Have been itching too, actually, but the heat here is killer!! And love your stripey number… I can tell it’s going to be such a fall staple for you! <3 As for one of "those" weeks?! Ugh, I hear ya, it's been one challenge after another over here. So I'm definitely ready for the weekend and ALL the wine!! Happy weekend Cee! xo

Those weeks are the worst. I’ve had a few of them recently and I’ve been exhausted for no reason, with weekends being no help to recharge at all.

A jumpsuit is so convenient and your one looks beautiful. I love how you’ve styled it perfectly, especially with the shoes.

  9. Cee, you’re not the only one. I’ve been feeling sluggish the past couple of weeks as well. Maybe the weather change. Great outfit!
