And so, like all good things, our New York photos are officially coming to an end. But I saved my favourite shots for last. Friday night was our last night in the city. After a day spent exploring the lower Manhattan on foot, we returned to Brooklyn exhausted. It had been a big day; breakfast at Arcade Bakery, a visit to the World Trade Centre, lunch at Jack’s Wife Freda, shopping at Anine Bing and an afternoon treat from the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop. But a Friday night in New York cannot be wasted, so we made our way to the Brooklyn waterfront. It was still warm enough that we could sit outside at the cafe on the dock, revelling in the view of Manhattan – I had a miniature bottle of champagne, while Ian chose a local craft beer. We took a walk in the neighbourhood and found a bookstore I wish I had discovered at the beginning of the week – although it’s probably better that I didn’t considering how heavy my suitcase already was, but I have such a weakness for a good bookstore. We ate a typical New York dinner; pizza, at the sidewalk tables at Juliana. And it was perfect… so much so that I wished it never had to end. But here were are two months later, firmly back in Vancouver, and I’m thinking it’s officially time to start planning our next adventure.
