As another year comes to a close, all I’m craving is cozy sweaters and warm socks, cups of tea and good conversation. (Oh, and a warm puppy if there’s one available – Madison, I’m looking at you.) I’ve always been a driven, ambitious person, but 2015 has been a year of overwhelmingly hard work for me. In my professional life, I have effectively been doing the work of two people since April, with little, if any, reprieve. I set some very lofty blog-related goals – because you never know if you don’t try – from redesigning to growth and collaboration and, I’m proud to say, managed to achieve them. Somehow I found time to write my second book, although the editing process is far from finished. It’s been rewarding, mostly, but also, I’m suddenly realising this week, absolutely exhausting. Part of it probably has to do with age – although I have to say, I really did make turning 30 count – but I don’t know if I’ve ever been this tired. It’s given me a bit of a pause, and I find myself contemplating if I think I can keep up this pace for the rest of my life – and more importantly, if I want to. So I’m ending the last week before Christmas a reflective mood, thoughtfully considering what really matters to me and how I can spend next year focused on those things. Mind you, I’m not about to start making pronouncements about doing only what you love, because in reality what you love doesn’t always pay the bills, and there’s no shame is acknowledging or accepting that. (I’ll save my opinions on being financially sensible for another post but suffice it to say there’s nothing I love enough in the world to make me thing going into debt is justifiable.) One thing I know for sure is that whatever happens in 2016, I’m so lucky to be surrounded by amazing people – Ian, my husband, who dutifully takes all of my blog photos (mostly without complaining…!); Topher, my BFFFFF, who responds to every one my crazy text messages and gleefully responds, “Finally! Merch!” every time I passively consider a new business venture; and my beautiful blogger BFF Lyndi, who understands all of my instagram anxiety and makes even the parts of blogging that are truly work seem fun (usually with a glass of wine!) And, of course, all of you – I’m so grateful that you all keep coming back  to my little home on the internet. Much love.
