To say that it’s been a spectacular summer in Vancouver is, without a doubt, an understatement. There’s a lot of goodness still to come, but there was a major highlight a few weeks ago; the opening of the new Dior boutique in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Imagine two levels of white marble to explore, Parisian moulded doorways to walk through and the most stunning handbags to admire, all accompanied by champagne sipped on dove grey velour sofas, and you’ll have an idea of what a fabulous night it really was. Sadly, because of his work schedule, Ian wasn’t able to join me on the night of the opening, so I took my outfit for a second spin a few days later so that we could capture it. I had picked up this Karen Millen dress at the boutique on Michigan Avenue in Chicago with the occasion in mind, and it did not disappoint. I think the only thing that could have made the ensemble better is if I’d had a Dior bag to carry instead of my trusty clutch – but then again, I would never complain; this clutch has seen me through all kinds of wonderful parties in the five years since I impulsively added it to my online cart on jcrew.com, making a cheeky purchase while at the office. (Come on – we’ve all done it at least once. Some of you are probably thinking about doing it now…!) It was more than enough for me just to live the wonder of a party thrown by the house of Dior.
