Ian and I got married five years ago. Our wedding day was beautiful and, despite the passage of time, there is nothing I would change – well, okay, nothing except my very crooked handwritten seating chart; that was definitely not my best work. But I admit that I do have fleeting moments of wondering what it would be like to do it all over again. And when I say do it all over again, I mean only the most fun and stress-free parts; getting to wear another gorgeous gown, choosing the perfect bouquets and throwing a big party. (I think I’d go for a black dress one this time – I always intended to wear a non-traditional colour on my wedding day, until I fell in love with the dress, which was most definitely white.) Which is why I love attending the Creme de la Creme Wedding Showcase every year at the Four Seasons Hotel here in Vancouver. I’m about the furthest thing from a bride, but Creme de la Creme, which is planned by the absolutely fabulous Countdown Events team, gives me a few hours to indulge all of my silly “next wedding” fantasies – I’m particularly fond of sampling sweet treats that we could possibly serve to our imaginary guests, and eyeing all the floral arrangements. The donut-topped cocktails were a definite highlight this year, and have officially been added to my fantasy wedding wishlist. Tell me, married friends – do you ever think about what your wedding day would look like if you had to do it all over? (I can’t be the only one… right?)
Ian et moi, nous nous sommes mariés il y a cinq ans. Le jour de notre mariage fut merveilleux et, malgré les années qui passent, je n’aurais rien changé – bon, d’accord, rien sauf mon plan de table, écrit à la main, qui n’était pas hyper bien réussi. Mais j’avoue que des petites pensées éphémères m’arrivent parfois et je me demande ce que ce serait, de refaire notre jour de mariage. Et quand je dis refaire, je veux dire que je veux revivre les meilleurs moments; porter une autre belle robe, choisir encore une fois les fleurs parfaites et faire la fête. (Je crois que je choisirai une robe noire cette fois-ci – j’ai toujours voulu porter une couleur non-traditionnelle lors de mon mariage, au moins jusqu’à ce que je suis tombée amoureuse de la robe, qui était blanche.) C’est pour ça que j’adore assister à la Crème de la Crème Grand Wedding Showcase chaque année à l’Hôtel Four Seasons à Vancouver. Je suis loin d’être nouvellement fiancée, mais Crème de la Crème, organisé par l’incroyable équipe Countdown Events, me donne la chance de satisfaire tous mes rêves de “prochaine mariage” – j’aime surtout tester toutes les confections sucrées que nous pourrions servir à nos invités imaginaires, et admirer les compositions florales. J’ai eu un coup de coeur pour les cocktails “donut” cette année – regarde comme ils sont mignons ! Dites-moi, mes amies mariées – avez-vous jamais songé à ce que vous ferez, si vous aviez la chance de refaire votre jour de mariage ? (Je ne peux pas être la seule… n’est-ce pas ?)
