My lovely friends – we are so close. It’s January thirty-first today, which means the first, longest, coldest month of the year is nearly at an end. It hasn’t been easy. As always, feeling refreshed from the holidays, I started the year full of optimism. But flu season, which has a way of keeping anyone who works with the sick and injured extremely busy, quickly wore me down. Today is Wednesday, and I feel like it should have been Friday two days ago. Suffice it to say, I need a little inspiration. And I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m not alone.

Thus, I give you sunrise at Parc Guell, the most glorious reason to get up at 6 am that I can possibly think of. Parc Guell is lovely at any time of day, of course – Antoni Gaudi’s work is inspiring from all angles, in all kinds of light. But in the morning, the park is less crowded, making it easy to admire the way the pastel shades of sunrise blend with the blues and pinks in the tiles that decorate the park structures. Parc Guell made me want to go back to Barcelona. And if you haven’t been yet, it is just one of many compelling reasons to start planning a trip to Spain. Preferably today.

Tomorrow, it will be February. Time will start racing forward at light speed once again. Soon, temperatures will warm and flowers will begin to bloom in our own cities. But in the meantime, we have Parc Guell.

  1. What a beautiful looking place! And I am soooo glad that January is almost over. The cold, bad road conditions, and illness (either me or Eleanor or among friends) kept me at home for most of the month so it was a bit isolating and sad. And now that it’s basically February I am getting excited about going back to work soon!

I’ve missed a lot of sunrises in my life, and you are making me rethink my desire to stay in bed when the beauty of an empty city lit by the first rays of light could be witnessed.
I’ve never visited Spain, and clearly it needs to be bumped a bit higher on my list. I feel like it would be a shame to have 2018 pass me by and not travel anywhere new. I am really looking forward to a little more warmth, light, and flowers. I love flowers.

  3. The countdown is on. We had a little taste of spring weather, admittedly brief, but it was SUCH a lovely reminder of what’s to come!! Winter is hard! You get the cold and we get the non-stop grey days and rain. Ah, why can’t it just be fall?! Always!! 😉 And these photos + sunrise are absolutely magical! xo

  4. It is really beautiful Cee. There’s been a bad case of the flu here, so I’ve been lucky not to be sick. Looking forward to warmer months.
