What’s in my Make-Up Bag

But, like most of you, I still wear make-up, and since it’s been several years since I’ve shown you a glimpse inside my make-up bag, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek today, as I’m changing up a few things for the summer. My everyday look is simple and fresh-faced, but it’s not no-make-up-make-up by any means.

I apply my eye make-up first, in case of any fall out. The cornerstone of all of my looks is my eyebrows, and although they’re pretty full on their own, I do use a Beauty Counter  Colour Define eyebrow pencil to fill them in. For eyeshadow, I rely on nothing fancier than the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette – in fact, I love it so much, I’m already on my second one because I completely used up the first one I bought! After that, all I need is a touch of liquid liner and a few swipes of mascara – I’m currently obsessed with Legendary Lashes from Charlotte Tilbury. As for liquid liner, since I’m not an artist, I prefer a pen-style applicator; Clinique’s Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen is my go-to.

When it comes to my face, I do get a bit fancier – I’ve always loved the look of a flawless complexion, so I’m always in search of the miracle foundation that will give it to me. I’m currently using Stay All Day Foundation from Stila, but Estee Lauder’s Double Wear remains my all-time favourite. In the warmer months, I will sometimes layer a loose powder over my foundation to mattify it, but that really depends on the day. The most important part of my spring and summer make-up routine is cheek colour. I never spend too much time in the sun, and I’m vigilant about applying SPF protection, so I’m not likely to ever have a natural sunkissed glow. Luckily, there are so many beauty products that can help to fake it…! I’ve been using two products from Nars, their bronzer in Laguna and their blush in Orgasm, since my wedding in 2010. (Actually, come to think of it, it might be even longer.) When I found out that Nars was launching a limited edition extra large Orgasm blush, I obviously had to have it – I mean, this blush and I have a history.  (And the #whatmakesyoublush campaign is just too fun.) Admittedly, it used to take just a few swipes and I was good to go, but as I age, I find my skin is getting drier, so now I like to use a light swipe of cream blush under my bronzer and blush; I find this gives the powder blush way more hold, and a little more vibrancy, too. Right now, I’m using Beauty Counter’s Color Pinch blush in Caramel.

One thing that has changed in my beauty routine recently is my lip colour. After years of bold reds, I’ve found myself drawn back to pale pink and nude lipsticks. My current daily duo comes from MAC – I layer lipstick in Patisserie and Cremesheen Glass in Dee-light.

What beauty products are you currently loving (or coveting)?
