When I write about beauty, I typically focus on a single brand or product. But this month, I feel like I’ve been adding to my beauty bag non-stop. And everything is just so good that I couldn’t decide which product to focus on! Instead, I’m opening up my beauty bag. This list encompasses all the new(-to-me) products I’ve bought this month, most of which I picked up on our recent trip to NYC.

Le LaboRose 31 Eau de Parfum
Believe me when I say that the last thing I ever expected to rave about – or own – is a rose-based perfume. But life is full of surprises. My first experience with this scent was at the Fairmont in Washington DC, where they use it for their bath products. In that week, I fell in love. I’ve used the shampoo, soap and bodywash regularly ever since (mostly thanks to miniatures from the Fairmont, where I say regularly for work.) I knew I needed the fragrance to complete my collection, and the experience of choosing it then having it bottled at the Le Labo store was so fun.

GlossierBoy Brow in Black
I loathed my thick brows growing up, but these days, they’re part of my signature look. My beauty bag is already full of brow products, but I lean on my Browluxe pencil most days. And that pencil is perfection for every day, but I was still intrigued by Boy Brow. After some experimenting, I’ve decided I like it best layered over my regular Browluxe pencil. It definitely gives depth and definition, but might not do much if you didn’t already have thick, full brows.

GlossierGeneration G Lipstick in Cake
Since a bold lip isn’t really my thing (these days), Glossier’s promise of a “your lips but better” finish from their Generation G lipsticks intrigued me. And I have to say – this did not disappoint. I love the subtle wash of matte colour. I do wish the formula were a bit creamier, but I love the results it gives either way.

GlossierCoconut Balm Dot Com
What does a skin salve actually do? Confession: I don’t exactly know. But I can’t resist anything coconut scented. And there is a stubborn patch of excema on my left cheek that needs all the love it can get, so I’m hoping this balm will be the saviour I’ve been looking for. Results so far are semi-promising and, either way, the scent is just so good!

Oak + FortNailpolish in Autumn
My search for the perfect brown nailpolish is finally over! I feel like I’ve been wanting this exact polish forever and I’m so glad I found it. Typically I find Oak + Fort polishes super longlasting. Sadly, this one chips likely crazy. But I love the colour so much that I don’t really care.

AesopResurrection Aromatique Hand Cream
I can’t resist a good hand cream. And it gets so cold and dry in Winnipeg during the winter months that I usually have three in my beauty bag – one for home, one for going out and one for travel. This is my first Aesop product and so far, I’m impressed. I love the fresh citrus scent and the lightness of the formula.

Lately, I feel like after years of feeling a bit ambivalent about beauty, my enthusiasm of trying new products is back in a big way. I’m always on the hunt for amazing new products – and I’ve become totally obsessed with masks, to the point of doing one almost daily. So I’d love to know (because I’m always looking for inspiration) – what’s new in your beauty bag?

Aside from finding a new foundation that I really love (and I guess actually starting to wear foundation regularly as a result) there’s not too many new beauty products I’ve tried lately. I’m becoming increasingly obsessed with Color Pop’s eye shadows though!

I’m currently loving Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. The lasting power is great!

That is so cool they put your name on the bottle if you get it at the store! I’ll have to keep that in mind should I ever decide to splurge on anything more than the $6 sample size, haha. I haven’t been trying many new beauty products as of late, though I would maybe like to find a mascara I actually want to wear.
