Recent Beauty Buys from Sephora

May 6, 2021

Coco & Vera - Ouai Heat Protectant Spray, Dior foundation, Keihl's eye cream, Vintage rotary phoneSephora opened a new store in Winnipeg just last week, and I stopped in for a (fully masked) visit over the weekend. I get most of my beauty products from Sephora – I’m not sure I should admit this, but I’ve had Rouge status for years, which gives away just how much I spend there annually. But I take my skincare seriously, and I see it as an investment so… there you have it.

Normally, I buy the same beauty products over and over, doing most of my purchasing online. I took advantage of being in store in person to get to know brands that are new to me, and picked out three new beauty products I’m excited to add to my rotation, so I thought I would share because we could all use a little inspiration in… pretty much every part of our lives these days. If you me, that includes your beauty routine, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

New Beauty Buys from Sephora

Ouai – Heat Protectant Spray
I’ve been really trying with my hair lately. Maybe because it’s longer again, maybe just because I’m an adult and I understand that I need to take care of things if I want them to stay in good shape. Either way, my shampoo only days are over. I’ve been slowly building up my collection of hair products, adding in conditioner and dry shampoo. Heat Protectant Spray was next on my shopping list. I heat style my hair at least twice a week, so it probably should have been my first purchase, but that’s neither here nor there. I tried it out for the first time over the weekend and I did notice my hair looked a bit shinier, so far, the formula seems promising!

Dior – Backstage Face & Body Foundation
The fact that I’m willing to try a new foundation is… practically unprecedented. I’ve been loyal to Estee Lauder’s Double Wear formula for years, and my love for it remains undiminished. But – I did find it a bit heavy last summer, so I wanted to find an alternative for warmer weather. I love my Dior eye palette from this same line, and as an added bonus, I have a bunch of friends who swear by this formula, so I’m excited to test it out.

Kiehl’s – Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
Sigh. I don’t even want to start with my eye cream saga. I’ve struggled with dark circles all my life, and puffiness, too. I’ve tried every cream out there, it feels like, and nothing really worked. I finally found an eye cream I liked – it wasn’t perfect, but it helped – from Caudalie… and they discontinued it. The replacement, which is substantially more expensive, is also substantially less helpful for my particular concerns. So, after years of searching to finally find an eye cream I liked, I’m back to the drawing board again. I’ve heard good things about this formula, but when it comes to eye cream, I trust no one and nothing until I’ve experienced it myself. We’ll see how this experiment goes.

Have you bought any new beauty product you love recently? If so, please do share – I can always use more shopping inspiration!

I every recently tried a Kat von D liquid liner from Sephora (while I intensely dislike that woman, she sold the company in 2020 and it’s now doing much better without her) and it is the best eyeliner I’ve ever encountered.

I recently received samples for two Clarins eye products that do seem to make a difference with dark circles and puffiness for me. I have been using Clarins Total Eye Lift Concentrate Eye Cream for a few weeks now and I’m pretty happy with it. Clarins Extra Firming Eye Balm is another worth considering, after using up my sample I plan to order the full size.
