CHANEL La Creme Main

We’ve all seen it on social media; the perfectly minimal egg-shaped hand cream emblazoned with the CHANEL logo. Until our move to Winnipeg, I rarely used hand cream. But the moment I laid eyes on CHANEL La Creme Main, I knew I needed it in my life. I grant, it took me a while to actually take the plunge – my favourite drug store hand cream isn’t exactly inexpensive, but CHANEL’s version comes with the luxury price tag you would expect. Is it worth it? That depends…

What it is: A complete care product for hands and nails that promises instant softness, intense hydration and strengthened nails. The texture is described as melt away, meaning that the product is formulated to quickly absorb into your skin, leaving only the benefits behind.

What to do with it: Pop it in your purse and use it on the go. The packaging is designed to fit perfectly into your hand and be small enough for your handbag, even when travelling. CHANEL recommends using it as often as possible during the cold winter months, applying it before bedtime in the summer to preserve even skintone and before a manicure, paying attention to your nails and the area around your cuticles.

What it costs: $70 at The Bay

Why it’s fabulous: The packaging alone sold me on CHANEL La Creme Main, I admit it. And I can promise that it is just as beautiful in person as it looks in pictures. But the lightweight, quick absorbing formula convinced me that it lives up to all of the hype. For me personally, there is one major dealbreaker, and that is the fragrance. I love the cream, but I find the smell totally overpowering if I apply it when I’m at home. So I keep it in my purse and only use it when I am going to be spending time outside, where there are lots of other scents for the cream to compete with. If you are sensitive to scents, this probably isn’t for you – but if you love CHANEL fragrances, you will absolutely want this in your life.
