It’s not every day that I add a new product to my beauty routine. Honestly, it’s not even every month. I know what I like. But since we moved to Winnipeg, some changes have been necessary. The climate is much drier here, which means the foundations I loved in Vancouver can sometimes leave my skin looking covered but dry and dull. I considered shopping for a new foundation, but finding formulas I loved in the first place wasn’t easy. So, how did I get my glow back? It’s all down to Charlotte Tilbury and her amazing Hollywood Flawless Filter.

What it is: The brand calls it the ultimate high gloss, high glow celebrity-skin-filter-in-a-bottle. Intended as a complexion booster, Hollywood Flawless Filter combines qualities of a primer and highlighter. With ingredients like airbrush polymers, glossy oil and porcelain flower extract, it promises moisture, brightening and brightening.

What to do with it: Hollywood Flawless Filter is a multi-use, multi-purpose product. You can wear it on its own for a soft, dewy effect. You can dot it along your cheekbones and the top of your nose in place of your usual highlighter. Or, like me, you can mix one part Hollywood Flawless Filter into two parts of your regular foundation before blending it all into your skin. The result is full coverage with a subtle, lit-from-within glow.

What it costs: $50 for 30 ml

Why it’s fabulous: My love of Hollywood Flawless Filter is two-fold. When I mix it into my foundation, it gives me the perfectly glowing complexion I crave, no matter how dry the weather is outside. But at the same time, it never seems to give my foundation that “melted” look that sometimes comes from wearing products that contain oil for too long. My make-up stays put, and flawless, all day. And on days when I don’t feel like doing full make-up (which is most of them) but still have to go out of the house (which, again, is most of them,) I can just put Hollywood Flawless Filter on without any other products. I add a swipe of mascara and a bit of lipstick and – voila, I have that effortless me, but better look I crave in two minutes flat.

I’m super weird with my makeup and skin care routine in that two or three times a year I get antsy and do a huge Sephora of things I’ve never tried before and then find a few new favourites and, unfortunately, plenty of things that don’t work for me and that I’ve just wasted money on…I think I need to add this to my list of things to try!

  2. Happy Wednesday, darling!! So lovely chatting with you yesterday, although admittedly, I was VERY tipsy by the end. Haha! 😉 And can you believe I’ve never tried Charlotte Tilbury?! Need to get on it because I always hear such good things. I currently have her Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder on my wish-list and can’t wait to see how it works. Plus, how gorgeous are these photos?!! Love the mood Ian captured, and you look stunning, of course!! xo

Oh the dream of flawless skin! You always look perfect, and I continue to wish I knew the first thing about foundation (like how to keep it from getting all over my white clothes). Thanks for sharing this, perhaps I’ll give it a try!

  4. I don’t add many new products either, but this sounds right up my alley. I might need to try it!

I do love trying new products because I always think each new one will be better than what I’m already using!! It’s super dry here in Denver too, so I’ll have to give this one a try!!
