The fact that I struggled with the move back to Canada from France is hardly a secret. It took months for me to shake the feeling that I would be flying back to Paris at any moment, and some days, I admit, it still feels like the period of adjustment is ongoing. Shortly after we got back, I found this pin on Pinterest. The phrase Bloom where you are planted has stuck with me ever since. The fact is, we can’t always have everything we want or be exactly where we want to be all the time – but it’s what you make of where you are in the moment that matters. Vancouver will never be Paris, but I like to think that I’ve bloomed here, anyway.
Je n’ai jamais caché le fait que j’ai eu du mal à rajuster à la vie au Canada après mon an à Paris. Pendant des mois, j’avais l’impression que j’allais repartir en France le lendemain et j’avoue, certains jours je pense que la période de rajustement continue. Peu après notre retour à Vancouver, j’ai trouvé ce pin chez Pinterest, et je m’en tiens à l’expression depuis. Le fait est que nous ne pouvons pas toujours avoir tout ce que nous voulons où nous trouver là où nous aimerions être – mais ce qui compte, c’est ce que nous faisons d’où nous sommes pour le moment. Vancouver ne sera jamais Paris, mais je crois que j’y suis éclose quand même.
