Traditionally, February is a month when my fashion focus turns to spring clothes. It’s no surprise, really. Fashion Week happens this month, which means new collections are everywhere. It’s hard not to get excited about new styles when you’re practically bombarded by them.

Growing up, I thought it was stupid that spring clothes launched in February. And now, I remember why. February in Winnipeg may be the moment when spring clothes arrive in stores, just like everywhere else, but it is also a time when temperatures are as cold as they were in January. As I type this, the wind outside is whistling so loudly that I can hear it through my office window – when a strong gust comes along, the window pane rattles a little. It is still too cold out to go without gloves and a scarf. My most recent purchase was a coat because I still definitely need one (but after months of wear, I was a bit bored of the ones already in my closet.)

Basically, February for me means still shopping for pieces that will help me stay warm. Spring clothes will have to wait…! I am trying to inject small hints of spring into my life in other ways, from new sunglasses (which I obviously don’t need right now but happily wear anyway) and the occasional vibrant nail polish. I’m not sure it’s having the desired effect, but at least I’m trying.

If it’s spring where you are – or even almost spring – I’m envious. And if it is, I’m curious… what spring pieces are on your wishlist this season?

  1. I am soooo ready for winter to be over. And usually I just love winter because it’s just me in the mix and so I still go wherever I please in the cold weather but, man, has Eleanor ever changed all that. Now I find myself housebound on the really bad days (and even the medium bad ones) because I’m worried it’s too cold for her and also terrified of navigating snowy, icy roads with her in the car. So, yeah, I feel betrayed by winter!

I’m with you – spring lines feel more like a cruel joke to those of us who will be bundled up for winter in the foreseeable future. I admit to making a spring purchase from J.Crew last weekend, fully accepting that it might not grace the blog until April. The jewelry collections of the spring however, are a different story. I’m always open to adding something new to my collection, and have been eyeing signet rings as of late.

  3. Yay. Another beautiful “Shop With Cee” post, and of course, I WANT all of it!!! And with you, we just got snow on Wednesday and the temps have dropped, even though it’s sunny and beautiful. So for now, my spring dreams are waning. But not all is lost, I’m pinning lots of beautiful flowy midi dresses, chunky knit midi cardigans and booties. Come on’ spring!! xo

  4. I have some Smith & Cult nail polish I have to review. Will definitely let you know my thoughts. I love camel & black. That camel beret is everything.

Here we are in the midst of summer. On my wish list ? A bathing suit that makes me look good. So it’s a really tough one 😉
