Last year was pretty exceptional, as years go. But I have to admit, after spending almost half of it in holiday mode, exploring new cities and countries, it feels strange to stay in one place. Or rather, stranger, because I have always found a life without constantly moving and changing a bit unusual. It seems like ages ago that we were enjoying the sunshine in Las Vegas. In reality, it’s only been four months. (And I’ve been to Toronto since then, though that trip really didn’t count.) Suffice it to say, I have been counting down to our trip to Washington DC since 2018 started. And the big day is finally here!

By the time you read this, we’ll already be well on our way, thanks to a very early morning flight. I can hardly complain. I like to maximize my time at my destination when I’m on holiday, even if it means getting up before the sun to do it. I’m particularly looking forward to being able to spend time outside and walk between the places we’re visiting. Despite the rain in Vancouver, which I loathed, I loved that I could go outside there all year round without freezing. I knew I would miss having that option when I moved to Winnipeg, and I was right. (And although the downtown skywalks here are helpful, walking indoors just isn’t the same.)

Of course, while we’re away, Coco & Vera will be up and running as always. We still have a few European photos left to share and, also, some of the (very) few sets we’ve taken this winter, including these ones, snapped on the sly at the Millennium Library. I hope that by next winter, we’ll have either figured out a good set of indoor locations for photos or I’ll be more used to the cold because as it stands, we’ve mostly been inside in layers of not especially photogenic sweaters this season.

Happy Friday, my friends! Wherever you’re spending it, I hope it’s a good one.

I hope you have an amazing trip! It’s been a few years since I was there but I lived there one summer and have since returned for multiple conferences and because a pair of good grad school friends wound up making it their home. It’s a fun place!

  3. So much yes to holiday time! Martin’s spring break is nearing and I’m SO damn excited. Can’t wait to plan all the trips + have time off with my fave partner in crime! And so nice to see your Michael Kors bag out & about. It’s one of my absolute faves – that hardware is gorgeous!! And yes, indoor options are a true godsend, definitely not a fan of shivering, my nose turing red and numb hands. LOL!

  4. Have a great time in DC Cee. I went when I was really young and it was lovely. Hope the weather cooperates. I super love this outfit. I have to copy it! I love the mix of neutrals. That coat and those boots look so good! Nice pairings 😀

    Have a great trip.
DC is a marvellous place to walk and always a learning experience with so many outstanding museum opportunities…
