The only pieces of jewellery I wear every single day are my earrings. Not even my engagement ring and wedding band get that much wear. I wanted my ears pierced from the instant I understood what earrings were. But because I’m me, when my parents finally relented and agreed to let me have my ears pierced for my twelfth birthday, my ear-piercing story wasn’t straightforward. An allergy to nickel into my first pair of earrings led to a severe infection and my first holes closed within six weeks. Anyone else would have been traumatised, but my love of earrings never waivered. I repierced my ears the following year and I’ve worn earrings every day since.

My taste in earrings has changed over the years. From studs to statement gemstones to oversized hoops, chances are if there has been an earring trend in the past two decades, I’ve tried it. In university, I fell head over heels for a brand called La Vie Parisienne by Catherine Popesco. (Surprise, surprise.) Since my transition into the corporate world, I’ve favoured more delicate, neutral earrings and very often gravitate to pieces from my dear friend Keltie’s collection, Keltie Leanne Designs. But as my style evolves, so does my taste in earrings. And while I’ve been keeping my outfit choices minimal lately, I’ve been loving statement earrings.

Statement earrings really do make a statement. I find I never get more compliments than when I pair a simple outfit with an updo and standout earrings. A great pair can be so eye-catching. I’ve snagged countless pairs from & Other Stories in the past year, but now I’m looking to branch out. And not surprisingly, my statement earrings wishlist isn’t a short one…! Which pair is your favourite?

  1. I love so much that our posts are both snoot statement earrings today. I also love the mixed metal spiral pair. So cool!

I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 21, unlike my gung-ho sister who did it at 12 and had a similar story to yours. Thankfully I made sure to have sterling silver studs for the piercing. I remember the massive headache that followed the first time I put in some cheap studs. Since then I’ve tried to stick to sterling. I’ve even gone so far as to bring a pair to the jeweler to get the posts changed. But with all the fun statement earrings floating around, there are some I just can’t resist, even if it means I can only wear them for a couple hours. I’m loving those oval ‘u’ hoops and the face is just so fun.

  3. The Mejuri hoops are my favorite Cee. Once I get my wardrobe together, I want some really good jewelry. I don’t wear much, so some key pieces will do for me.

From your list? The face earrings, without question! Are you planning to get them?!
From my own collection, I have this pair of super light fake gold hoops from Anthropologie where a second curve inside the hoop creates a sort of inverted space half moon. Because I love earrings so much, I had my ears pierced twice (not to show you up or anything), so I wear these odd-sized little silver studs I bought from a Danish brand called Pønt above my half moons, since I also love mixing metals. And usually with my hair down, like a gypsy. 😉

I always wanted a second piercing in my ears – at least as a teenager. Because of the drama with my first piercing, my parents absolutely refused. I’m over it now, I admit. I do still think of piercing my nose sometimes, but I’ve never done it. The face earrings are currently in my imaginary online cart, but I don’t always pull the trigger on those pieces so… we’ll see. Depends if I feel I deserve to treat myself in the next little while 😉

  5. Gimme’ all the statement earrings please. This is such a lovely and unique round up, and I can’t wait to rock a few more accessories this spring. Especially since I’ve been leaning towards more simple outfits and the right piece is the perfect way to elevate any look. As for my fave? Loving those spiral ones!!! <3
