I think I will remember 2018 as the year that I found the style I’d spent so many years searching to define. And what is both funny and telling about that is that nearly everything that style required was already hanging in my closet. I did not change greatly this year. My wardrobe did not, either. But I came home. And in coming home, I stopped fighting the reality of who I am. I let go of the idea that I could be someone different if I simply dressed the part. In doing so, I was able to embrace who I am to a fuller extent than I ever have before.

In short, this was the year when I got out of my own way.

On a personal level, 2018 has been difficult and often painful. I’ve experienced moments of both necessary catharsis and profound sadness. I relied on both long distance running and regular therapy sessions to make it through the summer months. But on a sartorial level, the year has been utterly freeing. I’ve refined my wardrobe again and again. I’ve resurrected old pieces I held onto for sentimental reasons but rarely wore, my Louis Vuitton Speedy bag the most notable among them. I’ve started buying vintage again, after years of not really knowing how the old styles I felt an affinity for could fit into my modern closet. I’ve found a path forward that I couldn’t see before. And I’m excited to see where it will take me in 2019.

I wish you all a wonderful new year of fabulous and fashionable adventures. Happy New Year!

You’ve had a very fashionable year, to my eye, but it also sound like one of actual and meaningful introspection, which is wonderful.

It would seem 2018 was an amazing year for you. To finally feel comfortable with your style is a great achievement, not to mention publishing a novel. I hope 2019 is even better.

Regardless of it all, looks like you’ve had a very productive year in many areas.
In my case, I am still living in 2018.

  4. Each year, your outfits get more and more beautiful. 2018 was my favourite… and anticipate I’ll be saying that about 2019 too! 😉 Honestly, your style is a constant source of inspiration!! xo
