Always on my mind…

Coco & Vera - Un Etrange Pays, novel by Muriel Barbery, on a parquet floor in a Paris apartment

When I look back through old photos, I can’t help but feel staggered by how much we once took for granted… how many snapshots that hold such vivid memories for me never made it further than my hard drive, because we were always onto the next adventure, always eager to rush out and create something new rather than take time to appreciate the work we’d already done.

“Freedom is what you do with what’s been done to you.”
– Jean-Paul Sartre

Paris, and travel, are always on my mind. But sometimes I can’t help but wonder if we aren’t freer now than we were two years ago, because the universe has forced us given us an opportunity to take a step back and see our lives clearly… maybe for the first time. From this place of perspective, we can choose how we ultimately want to move forward. We can change, and for the better.

If I could do it all over again, I would. Every sprint through the airport, every exhausted day and sleepless night of jetleg, even every piece of lost luggage. But this time, I wouldn’t take it all for granted.
