After debating the pros and cons of a cardholder for the entire three months of our trip, the anguish of leaving my favourite city set in at the last second. I needed a beautiful souvenir as a reminder of our holiday, I reasoned. And what could be a better souvenir of Paris than something with interlocking Cs on it? I can always come up with a compelling reason to make a purchase at Chanel! To make the purchase memorable, I chose to buy my cardholder from the temporary Chanel store in le Marais. This proved more difficult than expected, as it was Saturday afternoon and about 37 degrees celsius outside. That made it 45 degrees in the busy, un-air-conditioned boutique. But no one has ever doubted my willingness to suffer for fashion. The staff could not have been more patient, showing me every cardholder in the current collection. But I’d had one specific Chanel cardholder on my mind for months. Spotted on instagram in countless chic coffee shop photos and flatlays, the black pebbled leather cardholder with gold interlocking Cs was the one; I knew it before I arrived. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be just as beautiful in person as it was in all the photos I’d admired. And, if I’m completely honest, the packaging did not disappoint, either. I actually hesitated to open the box when I got home, nervous I might damage the beautiful paper camellia. (Luckily, I managed to take it all apart easily, because I couldn’t wait to start using my cardholder.) If you’ve been reading for a while, you know how excited I was to make my first purchase from Chanel a few years ago. My budget only allows for designer purchases every few years, but that just means I treasure the pieces I am able to buy myself that much more. My new cardholder is already well loved, and will be the star of many instagram photos coming up! What accessories mean the most to you?

Congratulations on your card holder! It’s really beautiful, and I’m sure it will cheer you up when you start to miss Paris.

For me, my most treasured accessory is probably my Transport Tote from Madewell (a few classes down from Chanel, haha). A few years ago, I saved up for it while working the most hideous job, and ordered it over the phone from the UK so I could pick it up in person when we went on our Christmas holiday to San Francisco. Days before we were due to leave, my Dad passed away after a long illness, and we weren’t even sure if we could or should go on the trip anymore, but my Mum practically forced us to. It was an emotional rollercoaster of a trip for sure but being able to pick my bag up really helped, and now it’s my most-loved bag. It’s like a symbol of hanging in there, so that’s what makes it special I guess. That and it’s hella instagrammable! ;-P

Anything Chanel makes a marvellous souvenir of Paris Cee.
I have several accessories that mean a lot to me, mostly small gold pieces from my grandparents in special moments.

  10. I’m so glad you bought it, Cee. You are so very Chanel to me, and it will absolutely be something you treasure forever. It’s really beautiful.
