(Travel Diary) Le Jardin des Tuileries

July 30, 2013

I love French gardens. The Jardin des Tuileries, an enormous tree-lined paradise full of  bright blooms and pretty fountains that begins with a double set of latticed golden gates at Place de la Concorde and ends at the Palais du Louvre, is within walking distance of my apartment. In the winter months its just a long, wide dirt path but once summer comes it is transformed… beautiful flowers spring up, troops of baby ducks march along pond banks and a carnival is held just off rue de Rivoli, with midway games, fifty flavours of ice cream, bumper cars and an enormous ferris wheel taking centre stage.
