If Paris was my first love, then Rome is the one that got away – the timing, the flights, I could never make things work out the way I wanted them to and so, in spite of the fact that I began planning my first trip to Italy when I was eighteen and just out of high school, I did not make it there until the week before my twenty-seventh birthday last September. Better late than never, I think – I fell so in love with Rome that I had to go back again this summer; I love the way the city looks just like it did in all the old movies I watched growing up. I love the history and the architecture and, perhaps most of all, I love the food. If I haven’t been, all I can say is go, go, go!

I think that Rome is perfect! You are a lucky person if you could see this amazing city!

  2. Oh I LOVE ROME. Haven't been for the last three years and am now aching to go back. Rome was my first solo trip in Europe and a simply magical city to discover on my own. I thought I would be lonely but it was just too distracting and romantic to think of anything else besides how beautiful it is. Your pictures really capture it.

  6. Okay, I desperately want to go back to Rome now. I'm thinking of a 2-3 week trip to Europe in the next year or so and was thinking I'd stick to Scotland, northern England, and France but I think I may need to shuffle things and try for 2-3 days in Rome. Plus it will give me an opportunity to put my sub par Italian skills to work!

I wish I were in Rome right now!! That first photo is so beautiful, I hope it ends up framed on your wall.

You are so lucky you've been there twice, even if it's not as much as you'd like, it's twice as much as I've been.

What a way to celebrate your 27th! (I've just realised we're the same age). Must be a beautiful memory made. I'm looking forward to my trip with the boy to Cyprus in a few weeks – turns out I'll be there for my 28th bday 🙂

We visited Rome a few years ago and I love the way it's so easy to view the city on foot. Amazing too that around every corner there's yet more stunning architecture. It has so much to offer! Beautiful photos especially the first and the last – the colour of those buildings is stunning. I'm sure we will return.

  26. It's funny, I think I am the only person in my family who has never been to Italy, it just hasn't worked out yet, I was always somewhere else. haha.Sad, since I lived so close to there. Stunning images Cee, its always lovely to see detailed glimpses of the historical buildings.

  27. As soon as I start travelling again, Italy will be one of the first three destinations. Thank you for sharing the photos, Cee! x
