It’s not a secret that the Loden Hotel is our celebration destination here in Vancouver. We celebrated Lyndi’s thirtieth birthday there earlier this year, so when it came to choosing a space for our pre-holiday party, the location choice was easy – we are obsessed with the pink couches in the rooms, with the fabulous French-inspired cuisine from Tableau restaurant and with the amazing team who always make sure we have everything we need (and more!) to make our soirees a success. When it comes to dressing for an office holiday party, I tend to keep my outfits safe, but for my own parties, I love to go all out – my style has gotten quite minimalistic during the rest of the year, but when Christmas comes, I still think more is more, and my outfits always start with a fabulous dress. I fell in love with the Zorah dress from Greta Constantine when I spied it at Wardrobe Apparel at a long ago event and have been (not very) patiently awaiting an opportunity to wear it ever since. While blush pink isn’t a traditional Christmas colour, it has been one of my favourite holiday shades since Dior decorated Printemps in Paris with pink and grey Christmas trees in 2012 – they remain the loveliest I’ve ever seen. I’ve been taking inspiration from that decor for all things holiday ever since, especially my outfits. We celebrated quite early this year – before I chopped off all my hair…! – but it was so much fun to start the season with our own celebration in advance of all the parties to come (and there have been lots of them, which I am definitely not complaining about!) However you celebrate, I hope your holiday season has been off to a wonderful start – and that it has involved some fabulous dresses, too!

I think wearing whatever makes you feel the most fabulous is the right choice, and your source of inspiration makes it all the better. Pale pink for Christmas makes me think of Marie the Nutcracker, so it totally works. I don’t think it’s ever too early to celebrate Christmas, and when you are a part of the fashion world, even a small way, things tend to get photographed long before they are seasonally appropriate.
